As most of us know, the Lord of the Rings trilogy is based on mythology, philology and Christianity. The characters are all closely based and affected by literature (during his time, like elves, dwarves, trolls, wolves, wizards, dragons and more. However, there are also differences, as every piece of literature is always different, and it is only natural that JRR Tolkein has added his own twist to it.

Lord of the rings Classic literature similarities difference
Creator: Eru Ilúvatar, through a holy music and chanting God, by commanding the objects to appear Both have immense power
They have different channels of power
Men: Men were secondary to Elves and the second race to be made by eru
Men are considered the apex and always the main characters.
Similar in build.
They are different in rank
Elves Elves were considered the fairest and wisest of the earthly race of Arda
Elves are thought of as beings with magical powers and supernatural beauty
Elves are both beautiful, intelligent, and are great swordsmiths    –
Dwarves: Dwarves were not children of Eru presented as living in mountains or stones and being skilled craftspeople. Both live in stones and mountains and are good craftsmen.
They are different in roles.

We do know that Tolkien adapted some of his characters from classic literature, yet he has changed some features of what we take as very common like human’s class and the creation of the world and where [spoiler] originated…
