Hi everyone! This article is about biotechnology and why is it the best thing that can be the worst.
So, for starters, there is bioprinting. Bioprinting can be 4D or 3D printing, but instead of metal and stuff, bioprinters use bioinks which are cells printed layer by layer. Bioprinting can print bionic eyeballs with built in zoom, infrared vision, ultraviolet vision, radio waves vision, etc. Bioprinting can also print skin immune to some diseases, printing coral reefs to restore ecosystems and more. Bioprinting can also be used in living architecture (see later) and cybernetics (see later, but the bionic eyeballs are connected to a microchip). The dark part of bioprinting, is, terrorists can just bioprint planes so they are not kamikaze, bioprint massive lizards the size of giraffes disrupting ecosystems and stuff.
Living Architecture is a product that can be made from Bioprinting or other approaches. Walls of hotels can be turned into living architectures by replicating cells. Living architecture can also be cloned easily. Bad news? Some evil guy is just going to use Living architecture and put some big wall around a city so it will starve!
Cybernetics is the use of microchips to perform tasks easily. Bionic arms can be engineered with AI to be self aware, like catching a cup before the use is aware, and Elon’s Neuralink is a good example of brain cybernetics. Bad news? Kim Jong Un probably will use cybernetics to create supersoldiers and be a very powerful dude. Also, many cyborg stuff originates here, though most cyborgs are more advanced than this kind of cybernetics.
Bioluminescence can be used to replace streetlights, and make lamps obsolete. However, bad guys can manipulate streetlights to create extremely bright or dark flashes, causing eye problems.
Biohacking human bodies have uses like storing data on DNA, performing cryonics, and extended gustation. Bad thing is, bad guys can use the technology to perform on their own bodies, while not regulated.
Biohybrid Robots are basically your daily Cyborg. There are a few types of Biohybrid Robots:
- Biomimetic robots: these robots resemble animals and can be used for researching and spying. Researches can use these robots to research on species, but bad people can spy on agencies and disrupt native ecosystems.
- Human-mimicking robots: the robots are like cyborgs. They have living tissue, and machinery. They can blend in well, though they are not really that useful. Bad guys can use artificial wombs and add the Cyborg technology in and use them to spy.
- Disaster surviving robots: these robots can survive harsh environments, like be resistant to saltwater, survive for long periods without water, be extremely tolerant to biowaste catastrophes. Bad guys can use these robots on themselves and their test subjects to perform spying and harsh condition monitoring
- “Birthing-Lost-Species” robots: these robots have a special talent. They can carry DNA of lost species, and make the species back again. For the bad guys, who wouldn’t want to throw Spinosaurus back.
Neo-organism technology: The neo-organism technology can include engineering viruses to be more deadly for research, mutating animals, hybridizing animals, mixing bacteria and archaea genes around, more. The bad guys probably would throw a virus as deadly as Rabies and as easy to spread as the Flu
Medical biotechnology: Medical biotechnology involves breaking down genetic code to create vaccines, creating artificial antibiotics and antivirals with mixed biological proteins, and more. The bad guys can exploit these systems to make them very obsolete.
Agricultural Biotechnology: A form of biotechnology that directly changes plants crops. Crops can be modified to be drought proof, plants can be modified to have more nutrients. Animals can also be modified to have higher nutrients and have Vitamin C. Plants also can be modified to be able to grow animal substances, like a tree that produces honey, and a vine that grows meat. Bad guys can use these to grow poisonous food.
Marine Biotechnology: A form of biotechnology that changes marine organisms. Barreleye fishes can be modified with canine teeth and sharks can be modified to live on land for a while. Bad guys can modify traits to make fishes powerful, and may crash the food chain since Phytoplankton is an important food resource that Plankton eat, which others consume. The bad guys may use a gene from Corals that create long structures, stinging and killing phytoplankton.
Neo-Human technology: Neo-Human technology changes human organisms directly. Genes can be derived from other animals, like Fangtooth Genes can be used for bioluminescence, and Lobster Genes can be used for human immortality. Bad guys may turn into dangerous beasts, like a gene of toxic species may allow them to sting other people.
