# Camp
Basically like 9th April, the school ACS(J) made all P5s, including me, force to go to a torture program they called “CAMPING” It lasted for 52 Hours and here are some survival tips plus trivia
Survival Tips:
Even if you are from another school, or a parent worried about your child, this is definitely some good tips to remind yourself/child
Pls note the campsite I went was Sarimbun Scouts Camp and things may be different or similar in other camps
- Use the bathroom differently:
One of the things in camps is that you’re parents/you may think that each person has dedicated dorms for showering, brushing teeth etc. NO. This is a wrong assumption. In realitiy, people go STARK naked inside spaces only separated by a wall that is accessible from the sides and that’s were bathing students unite to become naturists and most of the showering time you find 3-5 nude people. My tip is that instead of the normal “naked” tradition, try to stick your bathing cloth around your area not to expose your don’t-look-here parts. You might be thinking “why” before but if you go to place filled with people in the nuddy, you might want to just put your cloth around you and shower with the cloth(don’t worry about being wet, cloth is supposed to be wet) - For Parent’s, don’t stress over your child’s sleep:
This tip can be useful for both parents and students, though mostly parents. In the dormitories, they are often swarms of people divided into groups(In my class 11,12A,12B) that for the first night may sleep in dorms or huts. Huts are typicaly cooler but smaler and dorms are typically hotter, filled with more people but larger and more hygienic. The sad truth is that no matter what, your/your child’s sleep is still going to be 4-5 hours(In the hut I slept 5h 53 mins, In the dorm I slept 4h 42 mins). Some say my sleep is so good and the thing is, no matter what, everyone is still awake at 10:59(guaranteed 98.999%) - Selectively eat food:
Some picky eaters like me are going to be picky because the food there is not for picky eaters. My tip is that when you eat, you select the food you want and purge the rest. Also don’t forget to bring a cup as they have sugar drinks and I learnt the hard way that there actually would be. Especially for those fat-rich people(like me), the fat is now a powerful tool that you can go “immune” to hunger and not be suffering. - It’s okay to choose the activities:
Most activities now are Challenge on Choice and instead of forcing, you can choose what to do and what to not do. I personally refused Rock Climbing and Milo Pond(mud pond) activities, but some may want to refuse others. Unless they force you, the chill type of people can choose not to do anything at al. - Go slack:
For uninterested people like me, you can sort of go slack here. If you have a team activity, you can choose to let your team do all the work.
Okay now you probably have a rough outline(Part 2 contains more tips)
Now for the trivia
- If your camp is during a pandemic time, good luck anyways you are likely to get sick DURING the camo
- Be sure to pack sunscreen if you are looking to keep your tone the same
- It’s okay to go angry that’s what the facilitators want you to do
- You can ask your parents and sleep at home but you may trouble them not reccomended
